Removal Of Bird Nests or Blockages:

A bird's nest in your chimney will need to be removed by a professional chimney sweep. If the fire is used the smoke can come back into your room along with carbon monoxide. It is also important to ensure that the entire nest is removed.  This will be checked via a CCTV inspection.

Difficulty arises from the fact that once a bird has started to build a nest in your chimney you cannot remove the nest until the end of the nesting season. It is an offence under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, punishable by a fine of up to £5000 or six months imprisonment.

For more information see the RSPB article. RSPB article Wild Birds

The first hour is covered by the standard sweep charge, any time over and above this is charged at an hourly rate.  Please note that bird’s nest removal may take anything from an hour to several hours.

CCTV inspection:

Camera equipment will be used to do a visual inspection up your chimney or flue to assess any damage or blockages.
